3 ways to keep your skin hydrated during summer

We often hear people advising us to keep our skin hydrated during the summer, but why is it so important?

Of course, during summer, we sweat, sit in the sun, soak in chlorine/saltwater, and use air conditioning, which all contribute to drying out our skin.

Without hydration, our skin becomes flaky, dry, itchy, and loses elasticity. Dry skin can even accelerate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

So, how do you prevent and soothe dry skin?

 1. Make sure to moisturise head to toe, in the morning and at night.

The Greenfrog Botanic Natural Body Lotion is a great option when choosing which product to moisturise with as it’s very light, delivers instant hydration and also provides a 48hr effect (with no sticky feel!)

2. Use SPF

Excessive heat and sun exposure without enough SPF protection can damage your skin barrier function, causing water loss which leads to dry skin.

Most conventional sun creams have been proven to pollute and bleach oceans and reefs. When choosing your sun cream, make sure to avoid unsustainable substances such as oxybenzone, octinoxate, butylparaben (or any Parabens), triclosan, PABA, octocrylene and 4-methylbenzylidene camphor.

3. Deep condition

Our natural conditioner is amazing for dry scalp and hair as it uses biodegradable goodies to gently smother your scalp. It also contains plenty of essential oils to really lock in that moisture.

Simply apply enough conditioner to cover your hair and allow it to sit for 10 minuets before rinsing it off.
